There is one bus that stops directly outside the house. Although infrequent (mornings and evenings Mon-Fri) it will take you to Dundrum Luas stop which will lead you to Dublin City Centre. There is a local taxi service. We can arrange collection from air coach upon request. The famous Johnnie Fox’s Pub is a 20min walk or 3 min drive from our house.

The Wicklow Way starts in Dublin, Marley Park and extends as far as Carlow, Clonegal. This spectacular walk 127km long takes in some of the most unspoilt countryside in Ireland.

There are a number of local walks on our close by in the catchment of the Pine Forest: Tibradden Wood; Massy’s Estate (Hell Fire Club); Fairy Castle & Two Rock walk. Visit www.dublinmountains.ie
For a gentler walk or afternoon stroll while taking in some beautiful gardens Powersourt, Killruddery, Mount Usher Gardens and Hunting Brook are all close by. Powerscourt Waterfall which is an ideal place for a picnic.
Glendalough is a 45 minute drive away which is a renowned for its natural beauty and is one of Irelands most visited sites.
There are many dining options in the local area, a few popular choices are Johnnie Fox’s is situated in Glencullen one mile from us, Johnnie Fox’s is Ireland highest pub and one of the oldest and most famous traditional Irish pubs. Live music every night.
In the opposite direction is the Merry Ploughboy, another (!) famous pub with live music, good craic and really good food.
County Wicklow – the Hollywood of Europe. County Wicklow has been extremely successful film location popular since the early days of film making around the 1930s. It has been used in feature films, commercials, television series and short films. Everything from Michael Collins to King Arthur have been shot in County Wicklow. Parts of Enniskerry were used in ‘Into the West’, ‘Ella Enchanted’, ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’, ‘Excalibur’, ‘Leap Year’, ‘The Tudors’, ‘Camelot’ and ‘Michael Collins’.
We are lucky to have 2 state of the art studios in Wicklow – Ardmore Studios in Bray, Ireland’s only four-wall studio and the recently opened Ashford Film Studios. Famous films shot in Ardmore include Veronica Guerin, Angela’s Ashes, Braveheart and Breakfast on Pluto and of course the ever popular TV series The Tudors.
Film drives have been set up due to the popularity of some of the films that were shot in County Wicklow. So you can now drive along the routes and take in the fabulous landscape and scenery. The three drives are ‘Braveheart Drive’, ‘Excalibur Drive’, ‘Michael Collins Drive’.
